I spend quite a bit of my time researching on the internet. I do it to keep up with local news, events, and for other content to share with you. When I find a good source for information, I’ll share it with you.
A few years ago, when I was living for a while in southern California, I would often need some information on the surrounding communities. One of my best sources was a site called City-Data. On the left is a picture of their homepage. Hopefully they won’t consider this copyright infringement! I am promoting them after all…
City-Data.com gives detailed information on a city or county’s demographics, tax base, zip codes, links to apartment listings, and much more. Another great feature is the “Forums” section that allows you to post a question about an area and get answers from local residents.
There are quite a few informational portals that will provide data regarding an area. But I have yet to find one that is as comprehensive and as easily navigatable as City-Data. I’ve used it to get information and to give back by answering questions from people outside our area. This has allowed me to wax rhapsodic about the Tri Cities and paint our area as the jewel I believe it to be.
I’ll try not to push us so much that everyone will move here!
