$1.39 per Gallon Gasoline???

How 'bout $1.39 instead?
Yesterday evening, I filled up my car’s gas tank for $1.39 per gallon. The price on the pump’s little digital window said $2.09 was what I should have been paying, and when I looked over, it was what the guy in the next lane over was paying.
If you’ve ever been on an airline flight and overheard someone saying what they paid for their ticket, and you kept your face straight while inside you were doing an imitation of an NFL receiver in the end-zone after a playoff-reception touchdown because you knew you’d paid $248 less for the same flight— Well you get an idea of how I felt last night.
So how, you ask, did I save $0.70 per gallon on my fill-up?
I shop at the Albertson’s food store on Gage Blvd. in Richland. And, every time I get to the register, I swipe my little blue Preferred Savings Card over the scanner doo-hickey (the technical term for it) and receive the price that only the very elite of Albertsons loyalists receive. Ok, anyone can get the card. Let me have my moment of self-delusion.
My little checker-girl informed me the other day was that, each time I did this, they credited me towards fuel from their Albertsons gas stations. The promotion works like this:
For every $50.00 you spend at Albertson’s using your Preferred Card you get $.05 off per gallon of gas you purchase at an Albertson’s Fuel Stop using your preferred card. You can get up to a total of $1.50 off per gallon. If you have a balance of more than that, they credit the rest to your next gas purchase. There is a scanner doo-hickey at the gas pump where you scan your card to get this discount.
You’re now thinking that this is pretty cool. BUT WAIT, THERE”S MORE!
The amount that they count toward the $50.00 is the amount that you spend is BEFORE coupons! Holy petrol, Batman!
You’re already shopping for groceries (I assume). If you live in the northwest, you can save on your gas purchase if you do your shopping at Albertsons.
