Desert Oasis- Richland Pasco Kennewick

I’ve been getting some pretty nasty email from people responding to my creation of a petition to extend the First Time Home Buyer Credit (see my earlier post). Man, it’s a good thing none of these people know I signed the initiative to extend equal rights to domestic partnerships or they might bomb my home! What has happened to these people to make them so hateful? I could understand if it were about abortion rights, gay rights, or the argument over who’s hotter, Ginger or MaryAnne, but all this is about is a tax credit!

Why is it in this country our pride is based upon the freedom to work hard to get ahead, to be successful, to make for ourselves and our family the prosperity denied so many others in other countries, AND YET as soon as someone gets to that point they become THOSE PEOPLE who don’t deserve their success, who obviously reached that point unscrupulously, are obviously not paying their “fair share” or “carrying enough of the load” and therefore should pay more taxes? One, describing herself “Worker Bee” claimed the credit is a socialist plot (via Republicans… Huh?) to drive our economy down the toilet in order to bury Obama! C’mon!!!

This tax “credit” (which is paid back over time in case you’ve not read how the current credit works) is one of the only “credits” I’ve seen that actually stimulates an area of the economy directly, efficiently, quickly and at the sharp end of the stick! A house gets bought, and a builder starts a new one, so a carpenter has a job, so he buys a loaf of bread, providing a job for a sales clerk, a truck driver, a farmer, etc. and now the sales clerk makes enough money to buy a house…. It’s the circle of life baby! C’mon Timon and Pumba- sing it with me!!!

And stop sending me nasty emails! Can’t you feel the love tonight???
