I’m Gonna Go all AT&T on you!!!
Another example of how much AT&T sucks.
So, I lose my iPhone in the river yesterday. I was a little upset, but things happen. I go into the AT&T store 1st thing this morning. Now, I was going to get the new iPhone eventually anyway, and give Morgan (my daughter) my 3Gs. Can’t do that now of course, as it’s sleeping with the fishes. So, I tell the guy what happened and he looks at my account and says, sure, we can give you the upgrade (another story there- Talk about holding people hostage on the phones by making them sign up for another 2 years or charge them the cost of a Porsche for a new phone). Cool, let’s do that, says I. Oh, says he, we don’t have any in stock. It’ll be about a week.
WHAT? I can’t be without a phone for a week!!! So, I say, how ’bout I buy the older model and, in a week, bring it back in to trade for the new one. There’s a 30-day return, right? Uhmm, no, if you get the phone on an upgrade (which it wouldn’t be, since it’s not an actual UPGRADE to buy the same darn phone) there’s no return. I can either buy the old model for the FULL PRICE of $399, then bring it back, or wait a week!
Now I’m fired up. The place is full. My voice goes up a couple of octaves- “You mean, after something like 50 years with AT&T you’re going to charge me $200 dollars more for the same dang-blasted phone anybody walking in off the street for a new account can buy for $200 dollars less???!!!”
So, I’ve got a $30 track phone until the new phone comes in. BTW, that also means all my calendar appointments and contact information is unavailable during that time!
My new phrase when pissed is now “I’m gonna go all AT&T on you!”
