New Driving School in Tri Cities Washington Taught by Local Police
When the time comes for your teenager to drive, what are you going to do? Throw them out on the road and call KEPR to warn Tri-Cities residents to stay off the roads?
The best thing you can do for your teenager is send them to a good driving school. After all, you want to make sure your teen knows the rules of the road and how to stay safe while driving.
There are many things to consider when choosing a driving school. Some schools offer the student the opportunity to take the DOL test at the school so when they get to DOL they don’t have to take the written, only the drive portion. Most insurance companies also offer a discount if your teen graduates from a driving school. Bonus! There are a number of driving schools in the Tri-Cities, but a school that has really caught my eye is 911 Driving School.
The thing that makes this school different from others is that it is taught by police officers! Who knows the rules of the road better than a Trooper?
You don’t want this guy teaching your kids, do you???
The officers’ knowledge prepares the students for the responsibility that comes with obtaining a driver’s license. After all, police officers are required to stay up-to-date on all the current traffic laws. This knowledge will be passed on to the student and will provide them with the skills necessary for safe driving on today’s roads. This program is so exciting it begs the question “why hasn’t it been here longer?”
The Tri-Cities Washington school opened in December 2010, and has already been recognized in the Herald as well as the local news. That tells you how up and coming it is! This is a nationally franchised business. Having talked to some of the students, I found out that they really enjoyed the class. What 911’s website won’t tell you is how fun the officers are in person. The officers are a group of great guys who realize that with the proper driving foundation they can provide, they won’t be scraping the kids up from roadways.
The classes are exciting and use Powerpoint presentations supplemented with informative relevant situational videos, and some silly videos that make the students laugh. These videos use real world examples to engage the students and make them realize the importance of why they are learning what they are being taught. They constantly quiz the kids and make them think logically, and have them answer their own questions. They use props such as steering wheels and “drunk goggles” that shows the students what it is like to be drunk and how it impairs coordination and sight. They go over every different driving situation you can think of, in all kinds of weather. Most importantly, they teach the students ways to be safe that they wouldn’t have learned by themselves by just reading the DMV book. I could tell you all the other reasons you should send your kids there, but their website says all the rest. Visit it HERE, and you can call them in their Kennewick Washington location at (509)736-0911.

Along with classroom theory and instruction, the student will participate in hands-on driving time with 911 Driving School instructors. Students practice local road and highway driving, parking and other techniques essential to successful driving...along with the skills required to pass the driver’s test.
